I have only recently called myself a spiritual lawyer. It happened by “chance” (those who know me are aware by now that I do not believe in chance and that I believe that everything is connected and flowing) when a friend I had known for over thirty years tried to tell his mates what I was up to now and he called me a spiritualist. He said something like “Ange is now a spiritualist”.
I instantly reacted to the term. I knew he meant well and he used the term he thought was the most appropriate to describe me. In truth, he had a really hard job. We had met at University as law students. I had a fifteen year corporate legal career that sent me travelling around the world. What on earth had I turned into? I had left the legal profession to pursue my childhood dreams of being an artist, but also trained in clinical hypnotherapy, reiki, tarot, mediumship. I had turned into this new age woo woo therapist and frankly, even I didn’t recognise myself. Who was I?
I spent ten years exploring this new me but my “old me” felt fragmented almost as if my corporate life almost felt like it had happened in a past life. I think it was in part due to the fact that the “spiritual” therapist world is as far remote from business as it can be so I was doing the split and often apologising for who I used to be, whilst at the same time feeling self conscious around the people I used to know.
In that moment when I was called a spiritualist, I stopped in my tracks and i asked myself ‘Who am I?’ The answer that came was: ‘I am me. Beautiful me.’ Yes but what am I?’ And in the seconds that followed, I found the answer. I am a spiritual lawyer.
In Aesha Kennedy’s podcast, the Brilliant Misfits Podcast, I talk more about what it is to be a spiritual lawyer. I feel so privileged to have been invited on her podcast. But let me try to put it in a nutshell. A spiritual lawyer is someone who knows about the spiritual laws. In a way, it is like a priest except I don’t belong to any religious model. I am a free spirit. So I know of God’s universal laws. The law of unconditional love, the law of karma (which is not what everyone thinks), the law of attraction, the law of forgiveness. As a spiritual lawyer, I also access unconditional loving energy that can enable people who come to me to heal themselves if they feel ready to experience pure love. The kind of love that God grands to everyone of us all the time but we are too blind to see. I also do readings of the highest vibration and can access my clients’ blueprints.
People who come to me usually feel uplifted, inspired and peaceful. But in truth, I am not meant to do a lot of 1:1 work. If I developed a full time practice, I wouldn’t have time to write the books that I am meant to write and they are many. I wouldn’t have the time to raise my children the way that I believe is the right way to raise them and that is home educating them. I can uplift, inspire and bring peace to the world with my writing and this is now the main focus of my work. I want my books to be as successful as they can be so I can touch the lives of as many people as possible. This is what I have come here for. Who I am doesn’t matter that much. What matters is what I write.
I hope you listen to the podcast and enjoy it.
I can’t finish this blog without praising Aesha Kennedy, my host on the Brilliant Misfit podcast, for her gift. She has an incredible gift of listening which, in our world, is rare. Her listening is magical and empowering. People heal when they are listened to. And Aesha does that beautifully. She is also a yoga teacher and a creativity coach so if you would like to get your creative juices going to bring your gifts into the world. Creativity is not only useful to artists. Creativity is useful for anyone who wants to live the high life. Why? The rational mind cannot get us very far. The rational mind sits at the level of the problems that we encounter. Whereas the creative mind (this is something every clinical hypnotherapist knows) is where you find solutions. So if you feel stuck, you want to be spending more time creating, not thinking. You want to connect to your inner child and let her play.
That’s all for today.
Thank you for reading.
