My Father Who Art in Heaven is a memoir. I wrote it to honour my father and the journey of the last weeks of his life. But it is much bigger than that. My Father is the story of life beyond death. It is a tale of magic, love and forgiveness.
I had no idea when Dad was given one month to live how things would turn up. I didn’t know if my beliefs about the afterlife, which had been broaden subsequently in the past ten years would hold water. It’s one thing to like the idea of an afterlife, it’s another to actually stick to this belief when your dad is actually dying. Right?
This journey was the culmination of my own spiritual journey. Suddenly, I was given a chance to walk the talk. Big time. I embraced the challenge with an open mind and an open heart. And what I lived exceeded expectations. It literally blew my mind.
I saw my father rise into the sky into golden light. I saw him free and happy. He told me that he was born into the light.
And so despite the fact that I had much more exciting writing projects going on, last June (2016) I dropped everything I was doing to answer the call of my father. He wanted us to write a book together. Him, in heaven, and me on earth. As I have always seen myself as a bridge between worlds, it was an invitation I could not refuse.
